Lectors
Proclaiming the Word of God is one of the most important ministries in the Church. As lectors, men and women have the privilege of lending their voices to God’s Word, helping the parish community hear, reflect, and respond in faith.
During Mass, lectors proclaim the readings from Sacred Scripture (except the Gospel) and may also lead the Prayers of the Faithful. This ministry requires prayerful preparation, clear and reverent delivery, and a love for God’s Word. By proclaiming Scripture, lectors help the entire parish listen attentively to the voice of God speaking to His people.
This is more than reading—it is a ministry of service and faith. Lectors help draw the assembly deeper into the mystery of the Mass and into a living relationship with Christ, the Word made flesh.
Lectors are especially needed at St. John Bosco. Training is provided, and all who feel called to this ministry are encouraged to take part.
